Westwood Centre

The town council wished to have a larger town hall with offices, changing rooms, a café and a hall that could be used for the arts and sports. The building had to be as near self-sufficient as possible. We helped obtain funding from a number of different sources. We organised public consultations. The building was declared a “ flagship” scheme by the Dept. of the Environment. We obtained all the approvals. However a revised lower cost scheme was eventually built. The project pioneered thermal labyrinth heating, high mass construction, grass roofs and reed bed sewage treatment.
