Newlands Farm

Newlands Farm is a single storey family house (359m2) designed to fit on a slope, with a turf roof, next to the Cotswold way, in a secluded valley in the AONB.  The roof was designed like an aircraft wing. The floor area had to be no more than the total of the previous bungalow and outbuildings. The building had clusters of rooms and gardens on each level. A turf roof garage and a stud farm were added later. The house was designed to be off grid with a reed bed, solar panels, heat pumps and wind turbines. The House was a runner up in the RIBA regional design award.
